On August 27, 2025, Fletcher Merkel was tragically taken from this world while attending Mass during his first week back to school at Annunciation. What should have been a moment of joy and togetherness became a day that forever changed his family, his school, and his community.

Fishing For Fletcher is a day where the whole community comes together to celebrate Fletcher Merkel, a pure, joyful, and curious 8 year old who loved everyone in his community and was senselessly taken from them.

Each year, we will host this event in his name. A day of fun for all ages. To remember Fletcher not only for the loss we carry, but for the life we celebrate.

Proceeds will go to the Fletcher Merkel Memorial Endowment Fund through the Catholic Community Foundation of Minnesota, which will support tuition assistance at Annunciation, ensuring every kid who belongs at Annunciation can be there.

We will always remember Fletcher and we carry his light forward, together.
